Art & Design at Corpus Christi
At Corpus Christi, our Art curriculum inspires creativity, curiosity and confidence by giving every child the opportunity to explore, experiment and express themselves through a rich variety of materials, techniques and artistic experiences. From the early foundations of mark‑making and colour mixing in EYFS to the sophisticated drawing, painting, sculpture, craft and design work produced in Year 6, pupils progressively build practical skills, theoretical understanding and the ability to think and talk like artists. They learn about influential artists, designers and cultural traditions, develop their own ideas through sketchbooks, and grow in independence as they evaluate, refine and respond to artwork. Through this thoughtfully sequenced curriculum, all pupils are supported to develop their own artistic identity while celebrating the joy, meaning and purpose that art brings to our world.
