Geography

At Corpus Christi, our Geography curriculum has been designed to inspire curiosity about the world and deepen children’s understanding of the places, people and environments that shape it. From the earliest years, pupils build secure locational knowledge by exploring their immediate surroundings before progressing to the United Kingdom, Europe and the wider world.

Through carefully sequenced case studies—such as mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, coasts and rivers—children learn about key physical processes, environmental change and the impact humans have on the planet. Map skills, fieldwork and the use of atlases, globes and digital mapping tools are woven throughout the curriculum, enabling pupils to interpret geographical information confidently. By Year 6, children can compare regions across the globe, understand complex geographical concepts and recognise how geography influences daily life, both locally and internationally. This rich and progressive approach ensures every child develops as a thoughtful, knowledgeable and responsible global citizen.
