Statutory Assessments
Each year the DfE produce a report about every school in the country, reviewing the results in national tests (ASP).
This is a summary of some of the data
Basic Characteristics of the School:
Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School is a voluntary aided primary school in Birmingham with around 390 pupils on roll. The school serves a diverse and vibrant community, with pupils coming from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and a significant proportion speaking English as an additional language. The school has a higher‑than‑average level of socio‑economic disadvantage, with 58.6% of pupils eligible for free school meals at any time in the past six years, placing the school well above the national average.
Corpus Christi is inclusive in its provision for pupils with additional needs, with levels of SEN support broadly in line with national figures, and a below‑average proportion of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. Pupil stability is generally close to average.
Situated in an area of higher-than-average deprivation, the school plays an important role in supporting families and promoting aspiration. Despite the contextual challenges, Corpus Christi demonstrates strong performance across key areas of learning, with outcomes in reading, writing and mathematics consistently above or close to national averages over recent years.

Children also achieved well in Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design, with both areas reaching over 75%. These results reflect our commitment to providing a nurturing, language‑rich and engaging early learning environment where every child is supported to thrive.
Phonics
Year 1
Our Year 1 pupils performed strongly in the 2026 Phonics Screening Check, with 83% achieving the expected standard or above, well above many national benchmarks. The majority of children scored highly, reflected in an average point score of 34.6, and only a small proportion were working towards the standard. These positive outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of our early reading curriculum and our commitment to ensuring every child develops the essential phonics skills they need to become confident, fluent readers.
Year 2
Some of our Year 2 pupils continued to make strong progress in early reading, with 17% achieving the expected standard in the 2026 Phonics Recheck. Many children achieved higher scores than in their original Year 1 screening, reflected in a solid average point score of 27.5. These outcomes show the positive impact of our targeted phonics support and interventions, ensuring that pupils who need extra time and practice are confidently developing the skills they need to become successful readers.

Our pupils performed exceptionally well in the 2026 Multiplication Tables Check. Of the pupils who completed the assessment, an impressive 68.4% achieved full marks [25/25] compared to the national score of 37%, demonstrating strong fluency and recall of key number facts. A very impressive 90% of our children in year 4 scored 20 or more in the Multiplication Timestable Check compared to 69.4% nationally. The school achieved a high average score of 23.7 out of 25, reflecting our consistent focus on developing confident, accurate mathematicians. These outcomes highlight the effectiveness of our maths teaching and the hard work and determination of our Year 4 pupils.
